Line and Shape
For our line and shape project I decided to take all of my photos outside, some where in my backyard and others were in New Hampshire on a vacation. There are also a lot of waterfalls in my photos, which give the pictures some line, and others give it shape.
Some of the photos I took were at the Baison in New Hampshire, which is a small hike with lots of beautiful scenery and nice waterfalls. Most of the pictures I took there were of the waterfalls. The picture I had taken in my backyard was a day I was tanning in my backyard and really liked how to picture came out.
My favorite picture i took was of a waterfall in New Hampshire, I took the photo from below on an angle, I wasn't very far from where I took the image.
The picture I took was vertical with just a little bit of angle.
when I was taking the pictures i did consider the rule of thirds, I did not want to have the main subject of my piece right in the middle.
I think that I do have some images that would lead the viewer's eye, such as some with waterfalls, tree, bridges, and even the one with my hammock.

Pattern and texture
In my best photo, the one with the stonewall; the shot taken was closer then some of my other pictures. It wasn’t zoomed in at all but I did go closer myself and take the picture from that distance.
The point of view from where I took the photo was from straight on, I tried to do other shots (like from above/below) and the straight on picture looked the best.
The picture of the wall was taken from a horizontal view.
The picture does follow the rule of third because there is nothing that draws your view to the center of the picture.
The wall is an example of a pattern because the stone in the wall is repeated again and again.
The wall isn’t to overexposed, but it some spots it is underexposed. Some parts in between the stones it gets a little to dark.
My best example of a perfectly exposed photo would be the picture of the trees and the sky, there is a nice amount of light and dark

Painting with Light
One of my photos from when we took pictures with light was when a classmate took many a string of lights and swung them around multiple times to while having a very long shutter speed. Swinging them around created a circle of lights that went around multiple times.
The shutter speed I had my camera on was very long, probably around 15/20 seconds. The light source I used to create the “painting” was a string of Christmas lights swinging around multiple times. I achieve the effect by having a long shutter speed that basically recorded the picture then turned it into a picture. The viewer would feel at peace, looking at the circle going around and around.

Fast Shutter Speed
The shutter speed I used to take the picture of the jacks falling that has blur was taken at a shutter speed around 1/2 of a second or 1/4 of a second to create the blur. On a point and shoot camera I would use the shade setting because we were in the shade underneath the school. The action I blurred was the jacks falling in the air. I was about two or three feet away from the jacks falling, and captured the shot of them falling after a friend threw them in the air. Tools that helped make my picture become nice is the rule of thirds because the jacks falling is off to the side rather than straight in the middle.
Slow Shutter Speed
A photo that shows slow shutter speed would be the moving car which was probably at around a 2 or 4 second shutter speed, to take the picture I used an iPhone 5s. The part of the image that creates blur would be the moving car, my distance from the car would probably be around five or ten feet away. The point of view I took the image from was from another moving car. A tool that strengthens the photo of the car was the rule of thirds, because the car is not in the center but more to the side, creating the rule of thirds.

Shallow depth of feild
For my F-stop I used was 5.6, which created a shallow depth of, field focusing on the front shell. The white balance I should of used was bright lights because with the two bright lights I used putting on the focus of my picture. The ISO I used was around 400.
Large depth of field
The F-stop I used was 5.6 again, which also created a large depth of field that focused on the back shell. The white balance I should of used would be bright light again because of the two bright lights we used. Then the ISO I used was about 400 again to take a good picture I used the A setting to be able to focus.
The photo I like best is the fourth one because of how it looked after i color corrected it and the landscape view. You would want to create a shallow depth of field to focus in on one thing really close. You would use a large depth of field to focus in something far away.

Shadow and reflection
The time of day I took my photos was during the day, around noon time. The ISO I would use on my pictures would be around 400. White balance would be fluorescent because I was indoors and then the shutter speed I would use would be 1/25 to capture the exact image I wanted. The photos I took were mostly of reflection of mirrors and some shadow around my room. The shadow cast was off of my armoire and a piece of decor i have hanging up in my room. In the first photo I have in my set the negative space would be the black from the shadow and the positive would be the light itself. I incorporated line and shape in to my picture with the light surrounded by darkness. The shadow in that image shows a mood of kind of depressed mood on a dark rainy day.

Studio Portraits
The lighting in the shot is coming from the side of the face, it falls on the side of the model’s face. Shadows are created on the other side of the model’s face and in her clothes.
The picture of the model is a head shot with some of the torso showing, the model is looking down to the side also tilting her head.
I took a horizontal view for the photo, I took the photo from the very front of the model.
The lighting makes the picture have a more moody, sad almost. I was about two or three feet away from the model.
Another photo that has a lighter background a position where she is sitting up and her expression is lighter making it have a lighter mood.

Self Portraits
I mostly used a self timer to take the photos. The location was just outside my house in my drive way and it was early in the morning. Some techniques I used were rule of thirds and leading lines. For the ISO I set it as 800, WB as sunny, and the shutter speed as 1/100. I choose to do a picture of my shoes in the snow. It was successful because the tires creating well leading lines and many other things made the photo good. It wasn’t a selfie because it was a planned out.
Double Exposure
The pictures I selected for my double exposure project were mostly pictures from my line and shape project and the pictures of the people were from the studio pictures project. Each picture relates by how the mood is set, every picture I put together has a similar mood. I manipulated and modified the images by adding filters and changing the opacity of each image to make it look exactly how I wanted. To make a unified image I put the pictures so I could see them both at the same time and dragged one on top of the other and played with it until it looked just how I want it. My images relate conceptually with how the mood is set in each photo, my picture with the beach and the model looking out the window conveys a deep meaning of someone getting a phone call about something.
The subject of my photo essay is how human’s effect nature, I took all of my pictures in Vermont on a family vacation. I selected this place because all of the beauty there. Its important to me because of all the family vacations we went on there when I was younger. My photos are an essay because the bridge starts it off and the closed door ends it with a small story in between. In unified my images by putting the cyan filter on all of them.
Letter Form
I created the word "Maddie" because it is my nickname. I took my photos on the track and field and the tech room with all the supplies. I changed all of my photos in photoshop to be black and white to unify them better. If I redid the assignment I would probably spell Leary or something to give my dad for father's day. A logical place to photograph the letterform would be the beach or maybe an amusement park where there is a lot of places to take pictures with interesting shapes and other things.
